Our Final Stand?

President Bush's long-awaited speech on the war in Iraq seemed less than inspiring as he put the burden of winning on the Iraqi security forces who have not proven themselves worthy of fighting or shown much desire to halt civil violence.

Included warnings to Iran were the highlight of the speech, but Bush did not elaborate on that except to say that he has added carrier strike groups as assurance to our allies in the region. More on that below.

The Democrat's have whined for years about the war in Iraq, "Bring the troops home!" They've convinced themselves, despite facts to the contrary, that they were elected for their opposition to the war, when it was Republican's who were voted out for overspending while their parties leader took the blame for the war's lack of progress of which Democrat's have been no help at all, except to the enemy.

President Bush has now claimed responsibility for the Iraq mess, giving Democrat's as good a shot at him as they'll ever get as reason for taking back the White House, if Bush's new and perhaps final plan fails.

But instead of following through on their endless bashing of the war, and even after all the deaths, Democrat's will do nothing to stop the president from adding more troops to this war they claim is another Vietnam. Democrats' will give a pitiful symbolic showing of support for the troops, while clamoring to be against the president's expansion of it. This is the lamest congressional leadership there has ever been in America for sure, yet democrat's know they can do nothing to end the fighting in Iraq without bringing it back here at home, for which they won't allow themselves to be blamed for as they point the finger at the president.

So all the childish whining has been for naught. The thousands of headlines, talking points, books, talk shows etc., et al, has all been a bunch of hot air, proving that's all the Democrat's really have, much the same way as Republican's have claimed to be fiscally conservative while spending the people's money like high rollers.

With their slim majority, Democrat's have threatened to cut off the funding for the war in order to sound tough, yet they know they can't do that to the military men and women risking their lives to protect ours. They are either with us or against us, and it seems pretty clear they're not with us.

War with Iran, Syria
In attempting to defeat America, the Iranian regime believe this is their chance to take over the world for Islam. We are left with a mess and little choice in Iraq, that looks to get worse before it gets better, if it does at all. The result of our pouring more troops into the theater will likely have Iranian president Ahmadinejad grinning from ear to ear, as Bush's speech is an admission of failure to date as much as it is wishful hopes of success, leaving plenty of doubt to go around.

Bush made an implied military threat against both nations: "We will disrupt the attacks on our forces. We will interrupt the flow of support from Iran and Syria. And we will seek out and destroy the networks providing advanced weaponry and training to our enemies in Iraq."

Bush's order to "disrupt the flow of support from Iran and Syria," is playing into the Iranians hand for their religious quest to bring about apocalyptic chaos in the region to fulfill their Mahdi or 12th Imam prophecy.

The choice is not easy, but this war must be won or the disaster to follow will make 9/11 look pathetic in contrast, as other nations are pulled into a regional conflict. If America left Iraq as the left would like, it wouldn't be long before we'd be forced to return, at a vastly greater expense. Perhaps the congressional democrats would be willing to foot the bill themselves? Only if they can we allow them to replace freedom for government control, as is their goal for socializing America.

Caring only about their power and money, the leftists' can only root for our defeat in Iraq to justify their position of appeasement and lack of resolve, in hopes of ending America's power in the world for creating a level playing field for everyone else. What they don't understand is that Islam would rule, not socialism.
