Is America Going Astray?

The Schiavo case puts democrats in the difficult position of cultivating death mongers on the left of the secular crowd.

The Republicans are in a somewhatless difficult position of abandoning smaller, less intrusive government for living ethics and moral values of the religious right. But life trumps government.

The majority of the country is moving in the conservative direction following a more religious course set by the Church, President Bush and pro-life groups. This is a good thing, for if we abandon morality, society is doomed to failure.

Democrats follow an increasing far-left liberal direction by leaders like John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, Michael Moore, the liberal media, Hollywood elite and the European Union.

The 2004 election shows that the positive positions taken by the GOP are favored by the majority, while the democrats positions have the DNC scrambling to clean-up and change its negative image.

As Mr. Thomas Sowell said on Tuesday, "If the tragic case of Terri Schiavo shows nothing else, it shows how easily "the right to die" can become the right to kill. It is hard to believe that anyone, regardless of their position on euthanasia, would have chosen the agony of starvation and dehydration as the way to end someone's life.

A New York Times headline on March 20th tried to assure us: "Experts Say Ending Feeding Can Lead to a Gentle Death" but you can find experts to say anything. In a December 2, 2002 story in the same New York Times, people starving in India were reported as dying, "often clutching pained stomachs."

No murderer would be allowed to be killed this way, which would almost certainly be declared "cruel and unusual punishment," in violation of the Constitution, by virtually any court.

Terri Schiavo's only crime is that she has become an inconvenience -- and is caught in the merciless machinery of the law. Those who think law is the answer to our problems need to face the reality that law is a crude and blunt instrument.

Make no mistake about it, Terri Schiavo is being killed. She is not being "allowed to die."

Test for the Nation?

It is a shame that some are using a dependent woman for political gains while ignoring that she is a living, breathing person who can communicate. Have those on the left who've fallen from political power come to devalue life to this degree?

I fear for the consequences of what may come as punishment if Terri is killed in the guise of lessening her suffering.

Clearly it is us who may suffer greatly for such deceptions in turning away from life in favor of death.

With the massive amounts of evil seen in the majority of movies and on television these days, it seems as if we're tempting God to deliver his wrath upon us, and getting the people ready for it.

Should the Supreme Court Justices decide against life and against the Ten Commandments being displayed anywhere in government, using the EU's anti-religious formula for rationale, the result could be fatal for the entire nation, and hence the world if America continues going astray from the path set at its beginning.
